Job Description

The Director of Cybersecurity oversees the operational tasks and strategic direction of the Clango Cybersecurity Team. The Director collaborates with other practice area directors and the executive management team to set strategic goals, assist in technology selection, manage team skills development, assure the success of professional services teams, manage resourcing, maintain vendor relationships, and participate in developing statements of work and proposal responses. The Director also recruits, interviews, and recommends hires for Clango’s security engineering and advisory roles. The Director keeps abreast of new technologies, vulnerabilities, opportunities, and policies affecting cybersecurity in general.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 20+ cybersecurity engineers and consultants (3 to 5 direct reports)
  • Grow team through strategic hires, cross-train team members in multiple technologies, and steer them toward certifications
  • Collaborate with Sales Team to develop statements of work and manage client relationships
  • Manage projects for selected clients
  • Maintain relationships with Clango vendor partners in conjunction with Sales Team and Executive Management
  • Develop expertise in the capabilities and features of IAM tools Clango uses, in particular: CyberArk, Oracle OIG (OIM), Thycotic, and RSA IG&L (Via, Aveksa)
  • Develop cybersecurity consulting workforce


Secondary Responsibilities

Stay up-to-date on current security trends and practices. Train in multiple Cyber Security products. Attain vendor and industry security certifications.


Required Technical Competencies

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, IT consulting, or combination
  • Minimum of 4 years managing security consulting teams
  • Clear understanding of and ability to articulate principles of security engineering
  • Excellent team management skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude to learn, master, and apply use of complex apps such as ERP systems, IG&L systems, or GRC tools
  • Demonstrated skill in installing and configuring complex software systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent understanding of computer networks and domains
  • Flexible, with the ability to work independently on various technical activities and be able manage one’s time between multiple projects and activities (multi-tasking capabilities)


Desired Skills

  • Certification in one or more security products
  • Security+, CISSP, CISA, or similar security certification
  • Consulting background, particularly in security or risk management
  • Windows and Linux administration skills
  • Understanding of LDAP-based directory services
  • Familiarity with programming languages such Java
  • Experience with shell scripting or PowerShell scripting
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL
  • Experience with virtualization tools like VMWare or Hyper-V
  • Experience with collaboration and source control tools
  • Ability to develop technical specifications from business requirements
  • Training or technical certifications


Education/Level of Experience

  • A BS Degree, preferably in Mathematics, Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering
  • Must be a US citizen


Location

The position is based in Arlington, VA, and requires travel up to 25% of the time to visit Clango offices, client sites, and to attend conferences.
